Tony Oteng-Gyasi
Managing Director

Tony Oteng-Gyasi, Educated at the University of Ghana and the Ghana Law School in Economics and Law, Tony Oteng-Gyasi was born on 15th February, 1955. After spending nine years working with British Petroleum (BP) in Ghana in various executive marketing positions, he resigned in 1986 to set up his first company, a successful trading company, Tropical Products Ltd.

In 1997, he expanded into the cable manufacturing by incorporating, Tropical Cable and Conductor Ltd, with the active assistance of Empretec Ghana. Married, with five children, he is a keen squash player and is interested in building a company, which will survive him.


Theophilus Mensah
Finance & Administration Director

An experienced Chartered Accountant, Mr. Mensah holds an MBA degree in Project Management from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon.

Theo trained with Pannell Kerr Forster (PKF) and also worked with Deloitte, both firms of Chartered Accountants.

He later worked for Twifo Oil Palm Plantation Ltd. and Meridian Tobacco Ltd. (local subsidiary of Rothmans International) as Internal Auditor and Chief Accountant respectively.

Mr. Mensah left the manufacturing industry and took up an appointment with Ghana Highway Authority as a Financial Consultant on World Bank and African Development Bank funded road projects in Ghana.

He joined Tropical Cable and Conductor Ltd. at the inception of the company after the expiration of his five-year consultancy contract.

He was the president of the Institute of Directors - Ghana, for two-year period (2008 - 2010).

Theo is a trained ISO Auditor. He loves Gospel music and also plays the lead guitar in church.


Zbigniew Bonikowski
Cable Technology Director

Mr. Zbigniew (Tom) Bonikowski holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from London University. He is a fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

He spent 36 years in the Cable Industry working for BICC Cables Ltd. He held positions from Graduate Apprentice through Chief Engineer and retired as Technology Manager.

Tom was sourced by EMPRETEC Ghana under their British Executive Service Overseas scheme and has become a much - valued member of the TCCL team. He has fallen in love with Ghanaian food and appreciates the warm hospitality of the people. In early 2000, Tom accepted a position on the board of the company.


Irina Vladimirovna Odame
Quality Manager

Irina Odame graduated in 1987 with M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Byelorussian National Technical University (former Byelorussian Polytechnic Institute in Minsk), former USSR.

Prior to joining the Company, she had 10 years working experience with the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Within that period, she rose from an Associate Programme Officer to a Senior Programme Officer and was the Project Engineer for the National LPG Programme. She was later appointed as Research and Development Manager for Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company.

She joined Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited (TCCL) in the year 2000 as Quality Executive and is responsible, among other duties, for the Company's Quality Management System. She is a certified ISO Lead Auditor and is in charge of the overall performance, maintenance and improvement of the establishedISO 9001 Quality management system requirements standard.

Irina is a Vice President of the Ghana National Electrotechnical Committee (GNEC), which is a statutory member of African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission (AFSEC) and an affiliate member of International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC). GNEC is a body that facilitates the adoption of standards in electrotechnical field and ensuring the local Technical Committees are informed of all relevant developments in IEC and regional electrotechnical organisations. She is also a Council member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE).

Irina seeks to use her engineering expertise to ensure excellent and safe products for the protection of the environment.

Married, with two children, Irina enjoys playing the piano.


David Dumfeh
Admin. Manager, HR & Purchasing

David is a graduate from the University of Ghana Business School. He joined the management team of TCCL in the year 1999.

He has developed and implemented effective human resource strategies, which has resulted in improvement of HR Management and general organizational effectiveness.

He has an additional responsibility in supply chain management. David is a trained ISO Auditor (ISO 9001 Quality management system requirements standard) and participates in the system’s Internal Quality Auditing.
He is married, with two children and has interest in soccer and boxing.

David believes that nothing can be achieved without enthusiasm


Michael Dugbartey
Production Manager

Michael obtained Bsc (Chemical Engineering) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He joined TCCL in 2001 after his national service at Water Research Institute (CSIR).

Having worked under two Production Managers whose combined total experience exceed sixty years in the industry, Michael has taken up the challenge of running production. A key member of the team which saw the company achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification, Michael welcomes new challenges.

Michael is a trained ISO Auditor (ISO 9001 Quality management system requirements standard) and participates in the system’s Internal Quality Auditing.

Michael is married and enjoys Gospel Music.


Wisdom Ahorney Quashie
Finance Manager

Wisdom Ahorney is the Finance Manager. He holds a degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, Legon.

He joined the TCCL team in 2004 after several years of experience with Pannell Kerr Forster, the International Firm of Chartered Accountants.

Wisdom is a trained ISO Auditor (ISO 9001 Quality management system requirements standard) and participates in the system’s Internal Quality Auditing.

Wisdom has three children and loves playing with them


Nana Kwame Oteng-Gyasi
Marketing And Business Development Manager

Nana Kwame has a Bachelor degree in Business Administration (Finance) from Howard University, Washington D.C. and holds an Executive MBA degree from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

Nana Kwame started his professional career in 2008 as an Investment banker at JP Morgan in USA. In 2011 he relocated to Ghana and joined Databank concentrating on corporate finance and advisory services.

He joined TCCL in 2013. Nana added electrical accessories to the product range. His vision is to help build businesses and brands across Africa.

Nana Kwame is an avid supporter of creative arts industry and enjoys playing soccer. 


Cyril Derrick Thornton
Production Manager (Cables)

Derrick, an experienced electric cable maker, joined the company in January 2016. Educated in the United Kingdom and started his career with BICC in 1973. After working for BICC for 9 years Derrick moved to South Africa and joined ASEA Electric Cables.

He has over 43 years of cable production experience. He worked in various cable manufacturing companies in South Africa: SA PVC Cables (Illmons), Tulusa cables (SA), South Ocean cables (SA), Exoweld (SA) and ADC cables (SA). Derrick has a wealth of experience in cable production management, planning and organisation.

An enthusiastic soccer fan and a soccer player in the past, Derrick is married with three grown-up children and has a great passion for animals, especially his pets (dogs and cats).
